Charlotte Spencer’s method of working seeks to interweave dance, sound, music, visual art and text. It reflects her ongoing curiosity regarding perspectives on time, science and nature and she take her inspiration from philosophers, writers, theorists and artists and seek to transcend linear time.

In her aim to dissolve boundaries between distinct art forms, Charlotte is interested to make work for a wide range of spaces – galleries/warehouses/non-theatre public spaces where there are many ‘fronts’ and little distinction between performance space and viewing space.

Charlotte is currently an Associate Artist at The Point, Eastleigh and has recently been selected to be part of the prestigious European networking initiative – Tour d’Europe des Choreographes which will take her to France, Poland, Germany, Ireland and Spain over the course of the next year.

Mountain Dialogues, with 3 dancers and original sound composed and performed live by Tom Spencer, is the outcome of her most recent research project, Notions of Journeying. This project was funded by a Choreographic Bursary Award from Dance Ireland and Arts Council England and was also supported by South East Dance, Jerwood Space, DanceWarehouse Canterbury and Coachwerks.
