Lila Dance finds its inspiration for creativity in exploring the synergies between highly physical exertions with sensitivity of thought. Directed by Abi Mortimer and Carrie Whitaker, the company is committed to approaching dance as a live and dynamic art form. With each new work the company continues to develop a distinctive physical language of which complicated floor sequences, trademark physicality and intricate contact work can be identified as choreographic traits.
Lila Dance also offers workshops for all ages and abilities, providing as opportunity for the participants to experience the company’s movement vocabulary and creative practices. Each workshop is designed to be a fun and challenging experience of dance that deliver new skills to the participants
Lila Dance is currently an associate company of The Point, Eastleigh and is touring across the South East of England in Spring/Summer 2011. In Our Blood is a mixed bill of work created and choreographed by the artistic directors, alongside commissioned work from Yael Flexer and Simona Bertozzi.
