Morton Bates Arts Services offers a wide range of services and support to its clients, bespoke to meet each client’s or project’s individual needs.
Current services include:
-
Artist Development
We help artists develop strategies to manage and direct their careers and projects. This could include helping to build partnerships with organisations, strategic planning or identifying sources of funding; enabling them build their project or organisation/company in a considered and sustainable way. -
Project Development and Management
Clients come to us with a specific idea or project. We help them to realise this effectively and efficiently. This might include developing partnerships with promoters, managing contracts with venues and/or other collaborators, issuing invoices on behalf of the company, managing the company’s travel and accommodation and resulting schedule, and/or sourcing and booking rehearsal space. -
Contracts and Negotiations
Many clients come to us with a tour or project already booked, which we then support by managing the contractual process of those booking(s) and/or commission(s). We also support artists and companies by issuing contracts internally to performers, technicians, designers and other project collaborators. -
Tour/Project Consultancy, Coordination and Logistics
We help clients develop plans for distributing their artistic product by engaging in discussions with them early on in the process. We advise on where a piece of work or project sits within the UK or international market, possible partnerships, how to package the work including pricing/budgeting and developing timescales for planning. We often work with clients to develop that project further through to its subsequent delivery, including project managing the process. -
Marketing Campaigns and Delivery
We work with a client to undertake a marketing review or to put into place a strategy for marketing their project or company. This might include helping them re-brand the company, how to package their work to partners, or a marketing campaign for a specific project or tour. In the case of touring, we offer support by monitoring box office sales and progress, developing a marketing support pack for venues, utilising electronic and social media, and/or advising on or coordinating the creation of print. -
Education and Outreach Coordination
We help artists and companies to develop, package and price an educational, outreach or professional development provision for both formal and informal educational settings. We can then coordinate the booking of such opportunities, including the issuing of contracts and invoices. -
Financial Planning and Management / Bookkeeping
We assist our clients in helping them to plan project and company budgets and to put in place a system by which to subsequently manage this, either by themselves or by us on their behalf. This may include managing the bookkeeping, issuing invoices, credit control and issuing payments. -
Work Permits and Visa Applications
We can provide advice and hands-on support for companies or artists obtaining visa or work permits for international collaborators coming to the UK or for UK based individuals/groups to work or tour abroad. -
Tour Feasibility and Booking
As well as advising the artist/organisation about where their work sits in the market, how to package the work and offering guidance on pricing, we can also undertake an initial feasibility study by contacting promoters directly and pitching the work to them. This helps clients to get a better picture of the demand for their work, and when or in which context promoters might want to book it. This feeds into the client’s wider planning before they commit further resources to one particular option. -
Lecturing, Training, Workshops and Seminars for Students and Artists
We deliver a range of seminars, training, practical workshops and lectures for both student and practitioner groups on a range of topics including: how to engage with a manager, managing yourself as an artist, arts management as a career, project management and marketing and touring and distribution. -
Casting Services
MBAS often works with MBP Casting which helps production companies and organisations cast their shows and events. This includes distributing breakdowns, liaison with agencies to source talent, marketing/publicising auditions and castings, booking and coordinating all logistics and facilities for auditions, managing and arranging audition panels including booking accompanists, dance captains/leaders and providing all personnel to run a casting.
